Reptiles are ectotherm, and use heat from an external source to thermoregulate their optimal body temperature. Most reptiles use direct radiant heat from the sun in combination with conductive heat from sun-heated surfaces such as branches, rocks or other heat accumulating structures. Providing such an appropriate, species related, temperature gradient in the terrarium is an important factor in successful reptile keeping. With the Exo Terra 300W Dimming & Pulse Proportional Thermostat you can create a well-controlled heating system that allows you to maintain the required temperature conditions similar to those found in a desert or tropical environment.

The Thermostat will also help to prevent overheating and undercooling during hot summer days or cold winter nights. The Dimming & Pulse Proportional function keeps the temperature at the desired set-point with a much higher accuracy than conventional thermostats and virtually eliminates temperature swings in the terrarium. A Red LED will indicate when the heating device is powered and once the set temperature is reached, the LED will switch to Blue. Simply connect your Heat Mat, Heat Cable, Ceramic Heater or Incandescent Heat Bulb to the Exo Terra Thermostat, set the preferred temperature and place the heat sensor in the desired spot. The recessed dial of the thermostat will prevent accidental temperature change if the device is being handled. The Thermostat comes with a power-cord with grounded plug & receptacle for increased safety and to allow the use of a power outlet strip. The waterproof remote sensor can be safely used in highly moist terrariums and aquatic environments.
The Exo Terra® Thermostat should be set according to the needs of the animals. Thoroughly research the preferred optimum temperature range (POTR) for your specific reptile, so you can create the correct temperature gradients inside the terrarium to allow your reptiles to thermoregulate.

Exo Terra Thermostat Dimming Setting
The Dimming Setting of our Exo Terra Thermostats a very accurate temperature control setting that allows the use of visible light emitting heat sources. Instead of switching the power ON and OFF, like bimetallic and Electronic ON/OFF Thermostats do, the Dimming setting literally dims the electrical current sent to the heating element. The Dimming setting gradually increases and dims the electrical current sent to the heating element depending on the temperature increase that is needed. For instance, when the heating element is first switched on, the electrical current sent to the heating element will gradually increase until the set temperature is reached. Once the set temperature is close to being reached, the Thermostat will dim the electrical current sent to the heating element in order to maintain a perfectly stable temperature. The Dimming Setting virtually eliminates temperature swings in the terrarium.

NOTE: In combination with a non-visible light emitting heat source (like Exo Terra’s Heat Mat, Heat Cable, Ceramic Heater, Infrared Basking Spot or Night Heat Lamp), the Exo Terra 300W Dimming & Pulse Proportional Thermostat allows you to create a well-controlled 24-hour heating system that will not interrupt your animal’s normal activity cycle, while maintaining the required temperature conditions similar to those found in their natural environment.

NOTE: When using the Exo Terra 300W Dimming & Pulse Proportional Thermostat in combination with a visible-light emitting bulb (like Exo Terra’s Intense Basking Spot, Daylight Basking Spot or Daytime Heat Lamp) to create a daytime basking area or for ambient daytime heating purposes, you need to switch the Thermostat on at sunrise and off at sunset either manually or by means of a timer, in order to avoid the bulb to emit light at night disturbing your animal’s normal activity cycle.

Prevents Overheating.

Reptiles are ectotherm, and use heat from an external source to thermoregulate their optimal body temperature. Most reptiles use direct radiant heat from the sun in combination with conductive heat from sun-heated surfaces such as branches, rocks or other heat accumulating structures. Providing the correct species related temperature gradient, in combination with appropriate humidity levels, in the terrarium is an important factor in successful reptile and amphibian keeping. With the Exo Terra® Thermostats you can create a well-controlled 24-hour heating system that allows you to maintain the required temperature conditions similar to those found in a desert or tropical environment. The Exo Terra® Thermostats will also help to prevent overheating and undercooling during hot summer days or cold winter nights

Extremely Accurate & reliable.

All our Exo Terra® Thermostats haven been designed to prevent accidental temperature changes by using a recessed dial or double-action push button/dial system, depending on the Thermostat type. They also feature surge protection, MCU protection, a built-in fuse and come with a memory IC in case there’s any issues with the electricity network. The memory IC stores the last settings in case of a power cut, and assures that when the power returns, the Thermostat automatically switches to the correct time, temperature, and humidity settings.

The Exo Terra® Thermostats are available with ON/OFF, Dimming, Pulse Proportional and Hygrostat modes, and keep the temperature at the desired set-point with a much higher accuracy than conventional thermostats and virtually eliminate temperature swings in the terrarium. An independent lab test shows that the Exo Terra® Thermostats are the most accurate Thermostats on the market.
