Winner Nactus Award 2007

We are extremely pleased to announce the winner of the 2007 Nactus Award! This year's winner of our prestigious herpetological photography award is Mr. David A. Northcott from Canyon Country, CA, USA. His picture has been voted by our on-line voters as being the most striking of all the competition's entries with 2,767 votes.

As the winner, Mr. Northcott will be accompanying the Exo Terra expedition to Tanzania as the team's official photographer. In addition he will receive the 1.5 kg Nactus Award statuette. Category winners will be awarded with a certificate and can be sure that one of their new entries for the 2008 Nactus Award will be nominated in a runner-up category! This gives them a chance to skip the pre-selections, giving them the possibility of being voted as overall winner in 2008 with one of their new entries. All nominated pictures will be published in the 2008 Exo Terra Yearbook.

At this time, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of the contestants. Our panel of judges found it quite a challenge to select the 5 finalists of each category from amongst the hundreds of amazing , high quality reptile and amphibian photographic entries that were received.

Of course we owe a big "thank you" to our on-line voters. The 2007 Nactus Award would not have been the huge success it was if it weren't for the thousands of people who took the time to visit the Exo Terra web site to view, and vote for, their favourite nominee.

Emmanuel Van Heygen,
Exo Terra Product Manager
